When you think of Martin Luther, do you think of romance? You will after reading this book!

He was a monk who started a revolution. She was a nun who escaped to a new life. Falling in love was the furthest thing from their minds...until their paths crossed. Though undoubtedly attracted to the lovely Katharina Von Bora, Martin Luther has too much responsibility on his shoulders to let her into his heart. There are people wanting him dead, his own physical illnesses to combat, and most importantly, God's saving grace to preach. When Katharina meets Luther, she too can't deny the feelings she has for him. She admires his determination, his faith, and his care for her. But she's from nobility and he's a penniless preacher. She struggles to let go of the most valuable things she has left: her pride and her identity. But no matter how hard she tries to move on, her heart always comes back to Luther.

Hedlund paints a whole new picture of the man who started the Protestant Reformation. So often we forget that he was just as concerned about love and happiness as anyone else. Hedlund has created a beautiful fictional story that brings the humanity back into history. She also gives credit to someone who often gets left out of the history books: the woman who caught Luther's eye and played her own part in the tumultuous times of the reformation.

I enjoyed this book and the new angle taken on Martin Luther's life. Katharina Von Bora was also a great character to explore as she has her own exciting story to tell. I loved how Jody Hedlund brought her to life. I liked seeing how life was like for a woman during this time period of religious uncertainty. Anyone who enjoys obscure historical figures and love during times of uncertainty will like this book.
